Welcome to Potniq. By accessing or using our service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the service — we'll both be happier.

1. Who We Are

2. What Potniq Does (and Doesn't Do)

Potniq is a travel timing calculation service. We help you figure out when to leave so you arrive on time.

We do:

  • •Calculate transit times between destinations using traffic data
  • •Visualise itineraries with timing recommendations
  • •Integrate with Google Maps for routing and location services
  • •Tell you when to leave based on your schedule

We don't:

  • •Book flights, hotels, or transportation
  • •Guarantee you'll make your flight if you ignore our buffer recommendations
  • •Accept responsibility for leaves on the track
  • •Control weather, strikes, or acts of chaos

Important

Our timing calculations are estimates based on current conditions. Traffic changes. Trains get cancelled. That Parisian waiter might never bring l'addition because you committed the cardinal sin of skipping bonjour. Always leave yourself a buffer for anything important.

3. Your Responsibilities

By using Potniq, you agree to:

  • •Provide accurate information — our calculations are only as good as what you give us
  • •Verify critical timing — if missing your flight means missing your wedding, maybe check twice
  • •Keep your account secure — your password, your problem
  • •Use the service lawfully — which brings us to...

Prohibited Uses

You may not use Potniq for:

  • •Any illegal activity under UK law or the laws of your jurisdiction
  • •Planning or coordinating activities that harm others
  • •Military operations (special or the regular kind), invasions, or other acts of armed conflict
  • •Stalking, harassment, or tracking people without their consent
  • •Attempting to reverse-engineer, scrape, or break our systems
  • •Any use that would make us regret building this

Planning your escape from a collapsing temple, however, is exactly what we're here for.

We reserve the right to terminate accounts engaged in prohibited activities without notice or refund.

4. Liability — Please Read This Bit

Critical Disclaimer

Potniq provides timing estimates, not guarantees.

By using our service, you acknowledge:

  • •Timing is not guaranteed — we do our best, but reality doesn't always cooperate
  • •You assume the risk — you're responsible for allowing adequate buffer time
  • •We're not liable for consequences — missed flights, meetings, or that important dinner are on you
  • •Third-party data has limits — we rely on Google Maps and other services that have their own accuracy limitations

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Potniq's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the service shall not exceed the fees you paid to us (via Paddle) in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for:

  • •Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
  • •Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
  • •Any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law

5. Intellectual Property

We Own the Software

All intellectual property in Potniq — design, code, algorithms, branding, that nice Art Deco aesthetic — belongs to Potniq Ltd. You may not:

  • •Copy, modify, or reverse-engineer the service
  • •Remove copyright notices or proprietary markings
  • •Use our branding without written permission
  • •Build a competing service by copying our work

You Own Your Data

Your itineraries are yours. We don't claim ownership of the travel plans you create. By using Potniq, you grant us a licence to:

  • •Store and process your data to provide the service
  • •Use anonymised, aggregated data for analytics and improvements
  • •Display your data back to you (obviously)

6. Data Attribution

Potniq uses data from third-party providers. We acknowledge:

IP Geolocation Data

This product includes IP geolocation data from DB-IP, available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 License.

This product includes GeoLite2 data created by MaxMind, available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.

Mapping and Routing

Potniq uses the Google Maps Platform for location search, geocoding, routing, and travel time calculations. Map data and routing information is provided by Google LLC and subject to Google's Terms of Service.

7. Payment and Subscriptions

Paddle is Our Payment Provider

All payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Limited (for UK/EU customers) or Paddle.com Inc (for US customers), who act as our Merchant of Record. When you subscribe to Potniq, your payment relationship is directly with Paddle.

This means:

  • •Paddle handles billing, invoicing, VAT/sales tax, and payment processing
  • •Your payment details are held by Paddle, not by us
  • •Refund requests go through Paddle

Subscription Terms

  • •Billing: You'll be charged automatically on your billing cycle until you cancel
  • •Cancellation: Cancel anytime from your account or via Paddle's customer portal. Access continues until the end of your billing period.
  • •Price changes: We may modify pricing with 30 days' notice

Refunds and Your Rights

UK and EU customers have a 14-day cooling-off period under consumer protection law. If you request a refund within 14 days of purchase and haven't used the service extensively, contact Paddle's support for a refund.

After 14 days, refunds are at Paddle's discretion. We don't provide pro-rata refunds for cancellations mid-billing-cycle.

To request a refund, contact Paddle directly via the link in your purchase receipt.

Lifetime Subscriptions

"Lifetime" subscriptions (including the Zephyr Pass) grant access for the lifetime of the Potniq service. In the event the service is discontinued or materially altered following a sale or acquisition, lifetime subscribers will receive at least 90 days' notice.

8. Account Termination

You Can Leave Anytime

To close your account, email [email protected] with the subject "Account Deletion Request". Upon termination:

  • •Your access to Potniq will be revoked
  • •All account data will be permanently deleted within 30 days
  • •Any active subscription will be cancelled (no refund for unused time)

We Can Terminate for Violations

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

  • •Violate these Terms of Service
  • •Engage in abusive, fraudulent, or illegal activity
  • •Attempt to compromise the security of the service
  • •Use Potniq for prohibited purposes (see Section 3)
  • •Fail to pay subscription fees

9. Service Availability

Potniq is provided "as is". We aim for high availability but don't guarantee uninterrupted service. We may:

  • •Perform maintenance that temporarily affects access
  • •Modify or discontinue features with reasonable notice
  • •Experience outages beyond our control

We're a small team building something useful. We'll do our best, but we're not AWS us-east-1.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make significant changes, we'll:

  • •Update the "Last Updated" date
  • •Notify you by email
  • •Display a notice in the app

Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the new terms. If you disagree, stop using the service.

11. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

If you're a consumer, you may also have rights under the laws of your country of residence that we can't contract away — nothing in these terms affects those rights.

12. Miscellaneous

  • •Entire Agreement: These Terms (plus our Privacy Policy) are the whole agreement between us
  • •Severability: If a court finds any provision unenforceable, the rest still applies
  • •No Waiver: If we don't enforce something immediately, we can still enforce it later
  • •Assignment: You can't transfer your account. We can assign our rights if we're acquired or restructure.
