Frequently Asked Questions

Does Potniq book flights or hotels?

No. Potniq assumes you've already booked. We calculate the timing between your stops. Think of us as the layer between your calendar and your booking confirmations.

You book where you're going. We calculate when you need to leave.

Will Potniq suggest restaurants or things to do?

No, and that's by design. Potniq is for the traveler, not the venues. It's in our name.

Services that offer recommendations typically do so because they earn referral fees. That means they serve the venues they recommend, and the travelers using them are the product. We'd rather charge you directly and stay on your side.

What transit modes does Potniq currently support?

Potniq currently estimates:

  • Airport arrival before flights (2 hours by default, adjustable per flight)
  • Driving routes, using Google traffic forecasts for your planned departure time
  • Public transit and walking routes where they are viable
  • A timeline across multi-day trips

You add trains, ferries and other bookings you already hold as travel items; Potniq calculates the connections around them.

How accurate are the timing calculations?

Potniq calculates transit using routing estimates and configured travel buffers. Departure times are estimates, not a guarantee of arrival; check actual travel conditions before setting off.

  • Google routing estimates, including traffic forecasts for the planned driving departure
  • Your airport arrival and ground-transport buffers

Potniq does not monitor traffic or flights in the background or send alerts. Background monitoring is planned, with no date yet.

You use Google Maps. Why wouldn't I just use Google Maps?

Google Maps has "arrive by" and "depart at" options. We use them — along with their routing and traffic data — as our foundation.

The difference is orchestration.

With Google Maps, you check each leg separately. When your meeting moves, you recalculate. When you add a dinner, you work out how it fits. When your flight lands late, you start again.

Potniq calculates your entire trip at once. Change one thing and the affected connections are recalculated. Your assistant can make those changes for you through our MCP developer preview.

We're not replacing Google Maps. We're removing the manual work of using it fifteen times across a three-day trip.

Can I use Potniq for personal/leisure travel?

Absolutely. The tool works for any multi-leg journey where timing precision matters. Business travel is our primary focus because the stakes are higher (missed flights = missed deals), but vacation travelers benefit from the same calculated peace of mind.

How does multi-day trip planning work?

Accommodations function as "temporal hubs." When you add a hotel, Potniq treats it as your base for that time period. All activities during your stay calculate transit from that location.

This also works for multi-city itineraries. Combine multiple flights with hotel stays in different cities, and we'll calculate the timing for the entire journey.

Can I use Potniq right away?

New accounts join the waitlist unless you have an invite code. We activate accounts gradually and email you when yours is ready. We can't give a date yet.

Trip tools, in the web app and through an assistant, need an active account. While you wait, you can sign in to check your account status.

Will Potniq remind me when to leave?

Only inside Potniq. Turn on Saved departure reminders for a trip and a reminder appears in the trip, and to a connected assistant when it checks, within 15 minutes of a saved departure.

Potniq does not send email, push, SMS or WhatsApp alerts, and it cannot wake your assistant. How saved departures work.

Is Potniq free?

Your first 3 itineraries are free. After that, you can decide if it's useful enough to pay for.

We'll offer multiple tiers to suit different budgets, including a lifetime plan: pay once, use forever.

Do you have a mobile app?

No. Potniq works in mobile browsers and through compatible AI assistants (MCP developer preview).

Do I need an internet connection to use Potniq?

To create itineraries and calculate routes, yes. Trips you have already opened on a device stay available from its cache when you go offline.

Land in a new city with no data? You can still pull up your hotel address, your meeting location and your saved departure times.

Can I export my itinerary?

Yes, as a calendar file. Open a saved trip and choose Download calendar (.ics), or ask a connected assistant to export it. Import the file into your calendar app yourself.

It is a snapshot, not continuous sync: export again after you change the trip. How calendar export works.

What if my plans change mid-trip?

Edit any leg, in the web app or through your assistant, and Potniq recalculates the affected transit. Flight delayed? Update the arrival time and review the new departure times. Potniq does not detect the delay for you.

You can also add legs to an existing trip. Start with a couple of flights and a hotel, then add your meetings and reservations as your diary fills up. Exactly as you already do.
